These are our real trees — healthy, bushy 2–3 ft Green Giant arborvitae, potted (1-gal. class), sitting in Newtown right now and ready to go in the ground.
Once the ground freezes, planting season is over until spring — and we’d rather these trees go into Connecticut yards than sit through winter. That means our best prices of the year, especially on larger quantities.
Every order is quoted with delivery and optional planting included, so there are no surprises.

A wood or vinyl fence stops at 6 feet and starts aging the day it goes up. A row of Green Giants keeps growing — blocking views, wind and road noise — and looks better every year.
One of the fastest evergreen privacy trees you can plant in New England.
Hardy to zone 5. Keeps its rich color through Connecticut winters and handles snow.
Far less tempting to deer than Emerald Green or native arborvitae.
Resistant to most pests and diseases. No shearing required — shape it if you like.

Fall is prime time for evergreens: cool air, warm soil, and roots that keep growing until the ground freezes. Trees planted this fall come out of winter established and ready to put on growth.
When the ground freezes, we can’t plant until spring — and these trees won’t wait. Book by November 15 to lock in fall-clearance pricing and a delivery slot.
Based in Newtown in the heart of Fairfield County, we deliver arborvitae to all eight Connecticut counties — Fairfield County, New Haven County, Litchfield County, Hartford County, Middlesex County, New London County, Tolland County and Windham County.
Once established, Thuja ‘Green Giant’ is one of the fastest-growing evergreens for privacy — typically 3 to 5 feet per year in good conditions. The first season is mostly spent growing roots, then growth takes off. A row of 2–3 ft starters commonly becomes a solid 8–10 ft screen in about 3 years.
For a single-row privacy hedge, plant 5–6 ft apart (center to center). For a faster, denser screen, go 3–4 ft apart. For a very wide, dense barrier, plant a staggered double row about 6–8 ft apart. Use the hedge calculator above to estimate how many trees you need.
Yes — fall is one of the best times to plant. Air is cool but soil is still warm, so roots keep growing until the ground freezes, usually late November to early December in Connecticut. Trees planted now are rooted in and ready to grow when spring arrives. We're booking deliveries and installs through about November 15, weather permitting.
Unpruned, Green Giants reach roughly 40–60 ft tall and 12–20 ft wide at maturity. They take pruning well, so you can top and shear them to keep a hedge at the height you want — 10, 12 or 15 ft is common.
They are much less appealing to deer than Emerald Green or native American arborvitae, which is a big reason they’re popular in Connecticut. No plant is deer-proof though — in a hard winter, hungry deer may browse young trees, so a repellent spray or netting the first couple of winters is cheap insurance.
Yes. Green Giants are hardy in USDA zones 5–8, and Connecticut is zones 5b–7a. They stay green all winter, tolerate snow load well, and are resistant to most pests and diseases.

Water deeply right after planting, then give about 1 inch of water per week (more in hot, dry spells) during the first year. Keep watering in fall until the ground freezes. A 2–3 inch layer of mulch — kept off the trunk — holds moisture and protects roots over winter.
Starter trees give you the most hedge for your money and establish quickly — ideal for long property lines. Mid-size and large trees cost more per tree but give you real privacy on day one. Many customers mix: larger trees where privacy matters most (pool, patio, neighbor’s windows) and starters along the rest.
Green Giant (Thuja standishii × plicata) grows roughly 3× faster and much taller and wider than Emerald Green (Thuja occidentalis ‘Smaragd’), is less attractive to deer, and holds its color better in winter. Emerald Green stays narrower and shorter, so it suits tight spaces.
